Boehringer Ingelheim Developing World Award
Purpose: This award is for a researcher in the developing world*
who has done outstanding work in the region.
(*BASED ON THE RESOURCE POOR COUNTRIES,
ZONES AND TERRITORIES DEFINED BY HINARI)
Criteria: The nomination should include full curriculum vitae,
a short resume of his/her research, no more than 5 publications, which the applicant
considers as important publications and a letter of support from the applicant's
mentor. The awardee will be expected to submit an abstract of his/her research for
the ISH Scientific meeting.
Eligibility: Must be a member of the ISH. Previous winners of any
senior
award are not eligible for nomination a second time.
Officers of the Scientific
Council of the ISH and members of the ISH Awards Committee are not eligible to be
nominated. Exceptionally, other members of the ISH Council may be eligible.
The ISH 2010 Boehringer Ingelheim Developing World Award will be presented at an Awards Ceremony and
Presidential Lecture during its 23rd Biennial scientific meeting
in Vancouver.

Venue: Vancouver Convention Centre
New for 2010, the
ISH Presidential Lecture
will be given, not by the ISH President, but by Dr. Gary Owens,
Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, University of Virginia
Health Sciences Center, Charlottesville. USA and is entitled Epigenetic
Control of Smooth Muscle Cell Differentiation and Phenotypic Plasticity in Cardiovascular
Disease.
